The ERiC interface requires an ELSTER Certificate File (*.pfx file) for the authenticated transmission of filings to the tax authorities. The certificate is being generated during the registration process of an ELSTER account within Mein ELSTER (elster.de).
Create account
If not done already, a so-called organizational certificate (German: Organisationszertifikat) for a tax number should be applied for and generated.
It needs to be a certificate for a so called Organisation identified by a German tax number.
You will be led through the process. Go through the registration process and fill out all required fields.
Provide an email address to which you have access. And will have for the coming three years. (Email address can be changed after successfull login anytime.)
Aktivierungs-ID
You will receive immediately a so-called Aktivierungs-ID on the provided email. You will need it to finish the registration process.
Aktivierungs-Code
You will receive (typically around 7 business days after registration) a so-called Aktievierungs-Code via traditional post on the postal adress stored at the responsible Tax Office for the provided Tax Number.
